PitchFest 2017 now open for applications

Posted: 24th April 2017

PitchfestPitchfest 2017, part of Venturefest WM, is underway and accepting applications. As well as a great opportunity for businesses to win investment and raise their profile, we’re pleased to announce that the awards will now include cash prizes up to £1,000 (sponsored by Gowling WLG, Innovation Birmingham, Warwick Science Park and Birmingham Research Park).

Pitchfest is looking for entrepreneurs who want to win investment and raise their national profile.

Pitchfest is a unique pitching competition that was created to make investors more aware of innovative Midlands businesses. As well the opportunity to meet investors and other entrepreneurs looking to support your growth, you could win the Best Pitch 2017 title, £1,000 in cash and investment to help scale up your business.

“Pitchfest was the catalyst for getting the deal across the line with investors – the moment it all finally happened.” James Richmond, Roompik (“Early Stage Award” Winner)

 How does it work?

  1. Submit an application form and upload your summary business plan.
  2. If shortlisted, you will be invited to attend a free workshop. Here you will refine your pitch with support from specialists from Aston University, Warwick University or University of Birmingham. The next workshops take place on 26th April and 11th May.
  3. Selected participants will then be invited to practice their pitch in front of an expert investor panel at one of the Universities. The next panel rounds take place on 4th & 24th May.
  4. Carefully chosen participants will then go to the Pitchfest final at Venturefest WM on 27th June 2017. Anyone not selected to pitch in the final will be invited to attend with a stand, and be listed in the event materials.

Participation is free of charge. The sooner you enter, the more opportunity you have to refine your pitch.
