Stephanie-ShirleyOswestry LitFest Encore event bringing one of the most pioneering business women on the planet to Oswestry.BOOK HERE

Her business Freelance International was based around women working from home writing software for a range of business applications.

In many ways this is an Oswestry homecoming for Dame Stephanie.  Fresh from giving a TED Talk at the Truth & Dare conference in Vancouver, Dame Stephanie will talk about her extraordinary life and achievements revealed in her autobiography Let IT Go.

Escaping the Nazis on one of the last Kindertransport trains out of Europe, Dame Stephanie landed in Britain as a 6 year-old and went on to be schooled in Oswestry. Adopting the name Steve Shirley, to foil the sexism she encountered in the emerging computer industry in the 1960s, she became one of the richest women in Britain before selling her hugely successful software company and giving away her fortune. Britain’s first ambassador for philanthropy, Dame Stephanie talks with searing honesty about her time as a refugee, the happy period she spent as a schoolgirl in Oswestry, and of her achievements in business and the family tragedy that lay behind the decision to let her fortune go.

Ticket Price: Just £15 to include glass of wine on arrival.

Dame Stephanie’s talk will be followed by a Q&A.

PLEASE NOTE: Arrive 7pm for 7.30pm start!
