Burton WiRE’s summer social proved to be a night of fun, good food and great company – and also saw a total of £220 handed over to our charity of the year, YMCA Burton.

A raffle held on the night of our meal at The Winery, in Burton town centre, raised £150. A further £70 was handed over by WiRE member Jenny Griffin who raised it during a recent coffee morning, which she held with WiRE Burton leader Lorraine Holden.

This is the third year that WiRE Burton has had a charity of the year. Last year we supported Me&Dee and in 2015 we supported SSAFA.

We will hold another raffle for the YMCA at our December social and our members regularly bring donations for its foodbank at our monthly meetings.
