Growing and selling seasonal scented flowers in Lincolnshire

Growing and selling seasonal scented flowers in Lincolnshire Photo

Since 2014 on our small farm just outside Gainsborough,  I have been growing flowers to sell and am passionate in bringing back seasonality in flowers, making the most of the stunning range of flowers that may be grown in the UK.  The flowers are grown with the environment in mind and  the increase in the number of birds, butterflies and other wildlife that visit the field daily has been substantial.

The business comprises of myself, aided by husband Ted whenever there is grass to be cut or muck to be shifted, daughter Louise who rides the horses that provide the muck and looks pretty on photographs, and our dogs who provide dubious pest control!  Our main season runs from May to October. We may have some flowers a little earlier or later depending upon the weather. Many varieties are cultivated and each year we grow something different. The field is full of old favourites like larkspur, cornflower, foxgloves, sweet peas, scabious, dahlias together with seeheads and grasses for a natural look.

Flowers are a part of our lives from birth until we say farewell and we cater for every occasion.  For weddings we supply buckets of blooms for DIY brides, bouquets and buttonholes and the full venue decoration or often a combination of the two.   Our flowers are also perfect for funeral tributes particularly as they are eco-friendly and suitable for natural burials.

We sell at farmers' markets and events throughout the summer months, sell flowers by subscription around our local vicinity and in 2017 have introduced a range of fun and informative workshops that make ideal gifts, details of which may be found on our website
