Menopause and midlife can be an exciting new stage in your life. Many women have found that it gives them new freedom to express who they are and to make more empowered decisions about their lives. It’s also a time to reflect on where you’ve come from and where you want to go.

When you are running a busy business make sure you take the time to look after yourself, these top tips could apply to women of any age but are specifically aimed at women in their forties and fifties.

  1. Exercise More

Not only will exercise help your weight loss (which can help reduce menopause symptoms) but it also balances your mood and improves brain health – and that’s got to be good for your business!

Aim to work up a good sweat and be active three times a week for 30 minutes, you don’t have to join a gym, try a brisk walk to your local shop at lunchtime.

  1. Laugh More and Stress Less

 

You will be much more able to handle stress is your body is more relaxed. If your body is stressed for long periods and producing cortisol your adrenal glands won’t be producing the right amounts of the progesterone and oestrogen that are needed to supplement the decreasing production of these vital hormones.

 

Did you know your body can’t tell the difference between physical, emotional or nutritional stress? Making simple changes can help like limiting the alcohol and caffeine, eating omega 3 rich food like salmon or flax seeds, eliminate any screen time an hour before bed and try 10 minutes of stretching and relaxation.  Or laugh, sing have some sex or some dark chocolate!
