Worcester member, Curious Fox, an early years resource company recently attended the Nursery World Awards 2018 and successfully won the category for the Birth to Five Resources from thousands of early year entrants.
Curious Fox is a family run business, founded by long standing member Mary Horn in 2007, after retiring as an HMI advisor for Ofsted. Using the knowledge built up over a long and varied career in education, Mary develops a range of resources that support educational play in the early years – assembling and sending products to local authorities and nurseries across the world.
Curious Fox has a solid interest in encouraging young children to write and make marks, leading the company to develop new ways in which they can support parents and carers with writing activities. A set of boxes was created, each with a specific theme that aims to encourage writing during role play games, along with a belt that held all the tools for writing. Known as the Writing Belt and Early Scribble Boxes, these resources have taken Curious Fox to the finals of the coveted Nursery World Awards.
Curious Fox Company, Early Scribble Boxes have also won an award for the Teach Early Years and have recently been awarded ‘Approved Supplier’ status for NEyTCO – a membership organisation for early years trainers and consultants in the UK.
