Celebrating New Business Start Up Award Nomination at Suffolk BME Awards

WiRe Member Shirley Powell from ‘Your Life in Your Hands’ which has been nominated and shortlisted to receive an award at the Suffolk BME Awards 2017 jointly organised by the University of Suffolk and the Bangladeshi Support Centre.
The award is in the New Start Up Business category. The award ceremony is to be held on Wednesday 25th October 2017 commencing at 6.30pm, at the University of Suffolk Water front Building, Ipswich, IP1 1QJ. I have been interviewed by the East Anglian Daily times yesterday prior to this event and they will be in attendance on the night and there will be some media coverage.

I also have 3 other events coming up where I will be a guest and Key note speaker.
- Suffolk Black History Month celebrates it 30th Anniversary and as part of the celebrations, Ipswich Caribbean & African Community Health Support Forum, along with a collection of Black community groups, and Your Life in Your Hands will be guest speaker discussing Healthy Eating and Nutrition, and Hypertension at this Health and Wellbeing awareness day on the 23rd October. The main theme of the day is to raise health awareness and promotion of health and wellbeing amongst the African and Caribbean community.
- I have now completed the Social entrepreneurs programme at the Suffolk Social Enterprise Hub sponsored by Lloyds bank. I will be graduating and have the opportunity to showcase our health and wellbeing services at this event. This event will be held at the East of England Co-op, headquarters at Wherstead Park, The Street, Wherstead, Ipswich IP9 2BJ on Thursday 19th October from 11.30am to 2.30pm. Wire ladies are welcome to attend but need to let me know to inform SEE.
- New business and service Launch – I will be Launching a new service in my business Freedom to Thrive ‘Unlock the Door to your Next Chapter event’ on the 18 November 2017. This will be held at the Holiday Inn. I would really love to have the support of the local Wire group members at this event or for them to share my details about this event date with their contacts.
