Looking after your website is a very important job. Many small businesses have ventured into the world of websites to get their businesses seen online. Some business may have worked with a web designer to build their website or have built it themselves. Once the website exists, it’s easy to think that the work is done.
The work of owning a website has, in fact, only just begun. WordPress websites need to be kept up to date and secure all the time. If your website is kept up to date and monitored on a regular basis, this helps to protect your website from vulnerabilities and makes sure it works efficiently.
Think of it this way. If we don’t maintain good levels of exercise in our lives (especially as we get older) then we start to feel those aches and pains even more. As time goes on, with no constant maintenance of our bodies, things begin to hurt more or even worse, we may suffer aches and pains that affect our ability to do every day things or suffer an injury that takes time to recover. Websites are no different.
Whether you are a seasoned WordPress user or a beginner feeling overwhelmed, it’s important to get either the right training so you know what you’re doing or ask someone to do it for you.
If your website went down how would you know and how detrimental would it be to your business and reputation? Keeping your site up to date, backed up and secure will lessen the chances of losing your site for any time at all.
If you can relate to any of the above and would like some advice, help or even are thinking about outsourcing this aspect of your website, then I would be happy to talk it through with you.
