Etsy South Cheshire is helping the people of Crewe and Nantwich and the surrounding towns and villages in South Cheshire to conquer their Christmas shopping and connect with the makers and designers behind the perfect gifts at the Etsy Made Local market, at Reaseheath College on the weekend of 3 December.

It’s part of a national event that will see 26 UK cities from coast to coast celebrating the makers, designers and collectors that make up the creative community selling on Etsy.com, the online marketplace for handmade and vintage goods, and encouraging people to look locally for this year’s Christmas gifting.

More than 37 local Etsy sellers will be selling at the South Cheshire Etsy Made Local market, with products ranging from Morse code jewellery and mug cake kits to copper garden calla lilies The event will give the people of Crewe and Nantwich a chance to discover some of the best of the areas creative community, allowing them to connect with and buy directly from local makers and designers. As well as providing the perfect opportunity to find unique, affordable and meaningful gifts in the lead up to Christmas, the event will also include the opportunity for shoppers to have their purchases gift wrapped for free whilst enjoying fruit punch and mince pies.

All the South Cheshire makers involved have also collaborated on an art installation that represents the local community, which will be unveiled at the opening of the event. In June the makers held a Craft Party and all the items the attendees made have been sewn together to make a life size tepee to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday. In addition the makers also attended The Chronicle Community Day at the Lifestyle Centre in Crewe in September and local children made pom pom baubles and French knitted garlands that will adorn the Christmas Tree at the venue, The Old Hall at Reaseheath College.

Group spokesperson and Team Captain Christine Taylor said, Reaseheath Old Hall a former Country House in Queen Anne style with Jacobean features and not normally open to the public will be the backdrop for Etsy South Cheshire’s Christmas Artisan Market. It is the first time that a 37 strong Etsy only collective of designer makers gather together in Cheshire to showcase their art.
