morehall1A showroom displaying handmade home accessories which have been crafted by a Shropshire businesswoman from designer fabrics will open to the public again next month.

Sarah Cavendish, owner of The Loft at More Hall near Much Wenlock, will throw open the showroom doors on Thursday, June 30, between 10am and 2.30pm.

She is also planning another sale on Thursday, September 22, between 10am and 2.30pm.

The events follow the success of an exclusive open weekend held at The Loft showroom in Brockton at the beginning of May and increasing demand from Shropshire homeowners for quality handmade accessories such as throws, bedspreads, blankets and cushions.

The Loft, which otherwise opens by appointment-only, also displays a range of bespoke designer fabrics, lights, lampshades and one-off pieces of furniture, gifts and other interior accessories not usually available outside of London.

Sarah, who has 30 years experience as an interior designer styling homes for clients in London and Shropshire, sources all her stock from design houses up and down the country.

The May open event was the third of its kind to be held at the showroom since Sarah launched the business venture last year.

She said: “This was by far the most successful event to have been held at The Loft with more than 150 visiting in just two days.

“Some people had travelled from as far as Wales which is just amazing.

“It means word must be getting out about our secret Loft showroom.

“It was fabulous chatting to visitors about their interior design projects giving them advice on colours, fabrics and textures to provide inspiration.

“I’m delighted to announce the dates of the next two open events and hope just as many visitors will come down to have a look what is on offer. On June 30 we will have some truly amazing Loft discounts as well as some special offers on our fabulous linen wallpapers.”

Having originally trained at the Inchbald School of Design and worked at Charles Hammond in London and Christopher Vane Percy Designs, Sarah is passionate about fabrics and her aim is to bring London ideas to Shropshire through The Loft.

“One of the things we love to do at The Loft is reinvent fabrics by turning them into beautiful home accessories and we also love helping other people to bring their ideas to life,” said Sarah.

Jacky Price, from Ludlow, enjoys spending time upholstering small items of furniture in her home and is always on the look-out for quality fabrics.

She said: “The Loft is a lovely building and the layout of the showroom is very good. There really is not much fabric here that I don’t like.

“I’ll certainly be recommending The Loft to friends of mine who are looking to restyle or reinvent a piece of furniture.”

On hand to help at the recent event was Cardiff-based interior designer Bronwyn Picton Jones, who worked with Sarah more than 30 years ago at Charles Hammond.

After going their own separate ways, the two designers had lost touch but were reunited at a Charles Hammond event last year.

Bronwyn said: “It was so lovely to see Sarah again and we have kept in touch since September last year. When I heard she was holding her open event I wanted to come along and support her.

“I’m amazed at the range of quality fabrics, furniture and accessories Sarah has managed to source and bring back to Shropshire.

“Fabrics and items of this quality aren’t usually accessible outside of London so people here in Shropshire are very lucky to have the opportunity to browse and buy from such a wonderful selection.”
