Wall of fameBusiness groups using the Marches Growth Hub, Telford & Wrekin were presented with their own personalised perspex logos which are displayed on a Wall of Fame at the facility to celebrate National Growth Hub Week. The wall of fame was unveiled in May – recognising the collaborative work that partner businesses and organisations have become involved in since the hub’s initial launch last Autumn. These organisations include Wolverhampton University, Telford Business Board, UKTI and Good2Great.Several business focus groups are using the Marches Growth Hub, Telford & Wrekin as their new ‘hubquarters’ and making full use of the advanced technology on offer at the state of the art facility in Priorslee. As well as this, established national organisations like Women in Rural Enterprise (WiRE)  and the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) will be hosting their monthly Telford networking meetings at the Hub today.

Other Growth Hub Week activity includes a free drop in Virtual Reality Workshop at the Hub run by the Visitor Economy Forum. This will showcase a hi-tech virtual reality head set which drops viewers into the midst of Telford’s top attractions.

Marc Fleetham, director of Business Solutions, University of Wolverhampton and Katherine Kynaston, Telford & Wrekin Council’s assistant director for Business Development and Employment, welcomed the various groups to the Growth Hub and presented them with their logos.

The Wall of Fame has still some space available to home future logos of companies and networks looking to collaborate with the Hub in the future.

Councillor Shaun Davies, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Business, said: “Marches Growth Hub, Telford & Wrekin is a fantastic resource for businesses and organisations to access a whole range of support and information.

“Growth Hub Week provides an opportunity to celebrate what is already a success story and the events that are planned will help raise awareness of the Hub and how it can help your business.”

Paul Hinkins, Chair of Telford Business Board said: “I would certainly recommend that business of any size in our Borough that hasn’t yet visited the Growth Hub to do so, because there are plenty of benefits in doing so. The launch of the Wall of Fame celebrates the input of all the organisations and companies that have helped the Growth Hub get off the ground and shows how the business community is helping itself to network and access new opportunities.”

The Growth Hub also plays host every Thursday to representatives from UKTI and Wolverhampton University’s Built Environment Climate Change Innovations Programme. Business Support officers from Telford & Wrekin Council’s Business Support Team are on hand Monday-Friday to offer business support to businesses of all sizes. Businesses are invited to chat to these teams about how they can access a range of free and funded services.

Growth Hub Week runs from 16-20 May and aims to celebrate the completion of the network of 39 hubs nationwide. There are various national initiatives planned including a London exhibition showcasing how growth hubs have helped small businesses.

The Marches Growth Hub, Telford & Wrekin offers a single point of access to information and guidance on business support available to enterprises across the Borough, regardless of sector or size of development.
