Shropshire based jewellery brand Saloukee launches online and in store at Anthropologie

Posted: 18th April 2016

Rural Shropshire based jewellery business Saloukee has recently launched a collection of UK made pieces in time for Spring, in to one of the US’s most renowned lifestyle brands, Anthropologie.
Founded in 2008, Saloukee is a company built on the passionate vision of designer Sarah Shakespeare, whose desire to create unique, talking point wearables led her to design innovative jewellery, offering wearers simplicity with an edge.
Her debut collection was solely made from laser-cut paper and was seen worldwide through press, exhibitions and galleries, exposing paper as a jewellery medium to new audiences. In more recent years, her ongoing exploration of materials has led her to work with yarns, cotton and wood, receiving high acclaim in fashionable glossies such as Cosmopolitan, The Sunday Times Style and Elle Magazines.
However, it’s really taken until now to get the international exposure that she’d dreamed of, all from her home studio overlooking the Shropshire Hills. Country life is a fairly new venture for Sarah, having escaped city life 18 months ago for more peaceful, serene surroundings.
“Having my jewellery represented by such a well-respected store supporting independent designers and creativity is amazing! I love the fact that even though I’m just me, in my small studio near Much Wenlock, the internet enables me to be potentially noticed by the likes of Anthropologie. I feel so lucky to have been found and for my jewellery to now be discovered by a much bigger audience.”
Making each piece by hand in her studio, Sarah prides herself in getting these unconventional, often found jewellery materials working in harmony, passing on her desire for discovery, escape and inspiration. With more nature inspired collections in the pipeline, she hopes this might just be the beginning of things to come!
