On April 22nd a group of pet-related businesses, based in Bransgore, Hampshire and all run by women, organised the first ‘Bransgore Pet Event’. We had around 80 attendees who came to hear two excellent talks and to enjoy complimentary wine and refreshments. Laura Holm (vet from Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists) gave a talk on ‘The Latest Research on CRGV (Alabama Rot)’, a new and frequently fatal disease of dogs in the UK and Mark Pegg with Hearing Dog ‘Erin’ spoke about ‘Life with a Hearing Dog’. We also held a splendid raffle with prizes generously donated by many local businesses and individuals. The evening was informative and enjoyable and we have received such good feedback that we think we may make this an annual event. The evening raised around £550 to be divided between the Alabama Rot Research Fund and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. The businesses involved were Oscar Pet Foods Avon & Stour (run by WiRE member Sarah Stephens), Wagging Tails (Katy Dalton), Love Pawfection (Victoria Leredde), Rocky Ranch (Liz Korbey) and Sunflowers & Indigo (Caroline Rainger).
