What Video Marketing Can Do For Your Business
Video is one of the best marketing tools at our disposal. Rachel Robb of DStorm Marketing in Staffordshire looks at why we should all be considering using video to market our business. Scroll down to read the article and watch her video
Video is one of the best marketing tools at your disposal. In fact, visitors to a retail website are a massive 64% more likely to buy a product after watching a video.
“Video marketing is, without a doubt, one of the biggest reasons I’ve been able to create a multiple six-figure business online.”
Katie Freiling, Entrepreneur, Coach, Speaker
Video holds people’s attention far longer than other online media. People spend more time watching a video than they will reading an article. And since 65% of people are visual learners, video can vastly improve understanding of the product or service you are offering. Video also conveys a lot of information about your business in a short amount of time.
“Business decision makers LOVE online video because it gives them the most amount of information in the shortest amount of time.” Robert Weiss, President of MultiVision Digital
Video marketing allows your potential customers to see and hear you, the person behind the business. This will build trust among your target market. Prospective customers will feel they know you, to a certain extent, before they have even met you. This works very well for business owners who deal directly with their customers and who are the face of their business.
You can use video to add personality to both your website and social media.
“Video can seem like just another challenge to overcome, but I see a major increase in my business and brand awareness, all from the power of video.” Lewis Howes, marketing specialist and blog author
4 billion videos are viewed on YouTube every day. In fact, YouTube is the second-largest social networking site behind Facebook and is the third most visited website in the world. In the UK, YouTube visits account for 1 in 4 hits to social media channels. Videos are also more likely to be shared on social media. So, people love video! And directing your target audience at your video will increase awareness of your brand.
“The play button is the most compelling call to action on the web.”
Michael Litt, CEO and Co-founder of Vidyard
What’s more, video marketing on YouTube helps you get found on Google. Google considers video to be as important as text-only pages and this means that videos are appearing more and more often in Google search results.
Google will rank your website more highly if it considers your site to be an authoritative one. To help boost your site’s authority you could get your videos shared on social media, which tells Google that you are producing high quality, valuable content. You could also get people to embed your video on their website, as the more people who embed your video, the higher it will rank. It is also important to associate your website with your YouTube channel, which helps Google to identify the channel as belonging to your business and thus helps its ranking.
One video can be used multiple times. It can be embedded on your website and in your blog posts, linked to from your social media sites, used as a call-to-action on your Facebook Page, used in your email newsletter, and shown on a screen as a presentation for visitors to your stand at a trade show or networking conference, for example.
“Video is the Swiss army knife of internet marketing. It really can be used all over the customer lifecycle, whether it’s customer service, marketing, or even recruitment.”
Mark Robertson, Founder ReelSEO
Video can be used to demonstrate use of a product, to show testimonials from your customers in person, to simplify a complex service with graphics or animation, to introduce a new product range, to give an overview of your services, to introduce your business to a prospect by email, to introduce members of staff, to give your target market tips in ‘how to’ videos related to your product or service etc. etc. You are only limited by your imagination.
“Using video to connect with a prospect is so much more than a cold call. It humanizes the selling process.”
Jill Rowley, Social Selling Evangelist
