Getting to grips with the finances of your business can really get in the way of achieving those goals and realising your dreams.

Having the know-how and confidence to carry out tasks within your business is so important.

Follow these tips and and get some focus to those niggling financial issues!

Tip 1 – Don’t let your finances get on top of you.

If you feel like you’re in the dark as to what your current financial situation is or what has been going on for the last few months, give your accountant a call and arrange a meeting.  They’re here to help you and your business.

Tip 2 – Make a start

Clear out any cupboards or bags you’ve used to contain receipts and evidence of income in.  Start by sorting it month by month.  If this is too much of a mountain to climb, do a bit each week.

Tip 3 – Make use of that data

Download my templates from www.annagoodwinaccountancy.co.uk so once you have all your expenses and income evidence together, you can start inputting it all onto a spreadsheet.  They’re free and a very useful tool.

Tip 4 – Don’t leave gaps

If you have gaps in your accounts, make sure you are able to gain access to that information.  Your accountant will be able to assist you.

Tip 5 – Take your business to the next level

Invest in a financial mentor to help you build knowledge, confidence and awareness of the accounting processes within your business.  If the financial side of your business is going smoothly, then it will give you peace of mind and the right foundations in order to grow your business.

Mentoring is always flexible to your needs and budget and offers great support.

If you find yourself in a situation where you’re panicking and wondering where you go from here, there will always be assistance out there.
