13th June 2018 – 7:00pm to 9:00pm

Holiday Inn Express Burton-on-Trent, 2nd Avenue Parkway, Centrum 100 Estate, Burton Upon Trent DE14 2WF.

Cost: £8.00 (£5.00 for members) - Pay network leader directly

In June 2018 our guest speaker will be May Low, from Burton, who will share her story about how she became an active campaigner for the WASPI movement – Women Against State Pension Inequality.

This campaign group is fighting for fair transitional state pension arrangements for all women born in the 1950s who are affected by the changes to the state pension law introduced by Acts of Parliament in 1995 and 2011.

May’s life has changed dramatically since she became involved with WASPI and she will share her story as well as explaining about the highs and lows of the ongoing WASPI campaign and details of a major event planned for Burton in July.

We’ll be meeting in the large foyer at Burton-on-Trent’s Holiday Inn Express hotel. You are welcome to arrive from 6.45pm to sign in and pay your meeting fee. You will be able to get a hot drink and network informally until we move through to the meeting room.

You will be able to bring flyers and business cards to pop on a table in the meeting room and everyone will get the chance to introduce themselves to the room. The WiRE member giving a 10-minute presentation to give more detail about what she does will be Caroline Bark.

Any women who work (for themselves, for others, or for charities) are welcome to attend. There are no restrictions on the numbers and types of businesses who can attend and it doesn’t matter where you are based.

Admission will be £8 for non-members and £5 for WiRE members. Pay on the door but PLEASE help us prepare for the night by booking a place on this page.

Parking is free in the hotel car park but you will need to collect a code from reception on your way out to raise the car park exit barrier.

If you need to come straight from work you may be interested to know that light bites including paninis, jacket potatoes and pizza, are available to buy from the hotel all day and into the evening. So it’s the ideal spot to grab something to eat, or perhaps have a one-to-one meeting with a business contact ahead of the meeting.
