Branston Golf & Country Club, Burton Road, Branston, Burton upon Trent DE14 3DP
Branston Golf & Country Club is the new home of WiRE Burton for 2019. Our first meeting of the year will be Wednesday, January 9. Come and meet up with other women who work and volunteer and catch-up on everyone’s plans for 2019.
PLEASE let us know you intend to come by clicking the ‘Book this Event’ button on this page. You only pay on the night, but if we know how many women to expect we can ensure the room is ready with enough chairs and plenty of hot drinks.
We will be officially introducing our charity for 2019 – the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity (MAAC). Our guest speaker on the night will be Sally McMahon who has recently become a volunteer for the charity. It’s a big change of direction for Sally who was a speech & language therapist and manager in the NHS for 18 years before taking up a new career in training and development. She then worked as head of training for a national charity, before successfully establishing and running her own training company Skylark Training & Development for 14 very happy years.
Sally will talk about the history of the MAAC, its purpose, the helicopters and the areas it covers. She will give an insight into the highly valuable and fascinating work of the MAAC team including what happens when the call comes in, the number and types of missions flown, the incredible flight teams themselves, together with the invaluable support provided by the staff, supporters, partners and volunteers. We’ll also learn how we can support them during their year as our official charity.
A member of the team at Branston Golf & Country Club will give us a 10-minute introduction to their facilities and Elaine (one of our three volunteer leaders) will give a reminder on how the WiRE Burton team (and the national WiRE organisation) can help you promote your news, events and special offers. Make 2019 the year you raise your profile with WiRE.
You are welcome to arrive from 6.45pm to sign in and pay your meeting fee.
You will be able to bring flyers and business cards to pop on a table in the room and everyone will get the chance to introduce themselves.
Any women who work (for themselves, for others, or for charities) are welcome to attend. There are no restrictions on the numbers and types of businesses who can attend and it doesn’t matter where you are based.
Admission remains at £8 for non-members and £5 for WiRE members in 2019.
Parking is free in the club’s large car park.
