Join us to kick off 2020 at our lively monthly catch-up.
Shelley Nott, Fine Art Photographer, will be our speaker, She’ll be sharing the stories of her fascinating and varied working life (a true “portfolio career”!); at first in a designer/typography role in a publishers’ printing firm (the only woman in a male dominated industry, where she pioneered use of the first Mac technology), then training to become a gemmologist with special qualifications in diamond grading, moving on to PR and journalist within the fine jewellery trade, followed by her most recent career as a photography fine artist.
Shelley will share with us the career and life lessons she has learned, and the advice she took or ignored, to illustrate how we can keep evolving, learning and adapting to changes in life, work and our surroundings. What great “food for thought” for all of us on how to begin this new decade with an “anything’s possible” positive and open mindset.
Born and raised in north London, Shelley moved to east Suffolk nearly 20 years ago. Her career spans 4 and a bit decades, and it’s fair to say she is a woman who has the wisdom, experience and resilience to overcome most of life’s hurdles. Coming from what she describes as “an unprepossessing start” she has constantly found new avenues to explore, re-inventing herself and her working practices.
We shall look forward to meeting you at Quay Place. Feel free to bring guests, they are most welcome! We are particularly keen to encourage the next generation of women in business and young entrepreneurs to know about the support available to them if they join WiRE, so spread the word via the teenagers in your family or circle of friends!
