Hi, I would like to introduce myself, as the newest member of the 'Opening Doors' team, I'm Chris Rutherford, and I'm the new project officer for Hereford and Worcester.
I am planning to organise various 'Opening Doors' events throughout Hereford and Worcestershire, these will include two hour 'taster' events, to introduce WiRE to women who are thinking of setting up in business or have recently started, but need a little help or support and aren't sure who to ask. This will lead onto the 'Opening Doors' workshops which give you lots of information about setting up your own business. To help you further, there will also be workshops to help you, and to develop your business. We also offer mentoring on a one to one basis, all of which are free to women who are setting up in business.
I have worked on many projects before, and have a background in sales, and have run a small business myself, whilst trying to balance family life with 2 children!! So I can understand the problems and concerns you will have at setting up your business.

Squirrel's Drey' was the WiRE version of Dragon's Den!!.
We held our friendly version, at Keele university in Staffordshire, with 4 judges, Julie White, Mike Cole, Julie Bryan and Jan Morris who had a very difficult decision to make from the high standard of entries.
The six finalists had to deliver a presentation about their business and how they would spend the £250.00 prize money if they were successful.
A difficult decision was made and the winner selected was Lynn Johnson & Emma Surridge whose business is called "Fresh from the Field", based in Herefordshire. Why not take a look at their website
