WiRE Members Event. - 22/10/10

Choosing the food and wines for what most of us consider the most important
meal of the year can be overwhelming.

This wine and food tasting session guides you through the traditional
Christmas meal, and will introduce you to both unusual wines along with well
known friends, but all chosen to complement a menu of delicious freshly
cooked food.

Leading you through the selection of wines will be Emily Barclay of The
Perfect Wine.  There will be plenty of time to have a chat with Emily and
also Gemma (in the kitchen), asking any food and wine questions and
picking-up useful tips.

An excellent present for anyone interested in food & wine or just as a
pre-Christmas indulgence for yourself.

Taster Menu & Wine List:

First course: Creamy Parsnip soup topped with parsnip crisps and served with
freshly baked cheese scone
Wine: Domaine Gibault Sauvignon 2008, Touraine

Second course: Tartlet of smoked salmon and horseradish crème fraiche
Wine: Domaine Billard Blanc 2008, Haute Cotes de Beaune

Main course: Roast turkey with sage and onion stuffing
Wine: To be Confirmed

Cheese board: Suffolk Gold, Binham Blue, Brie and poppy seed crackers
Wine: Chateau Haute Fontaine Tradition 2006, Corbieres

Dessert: Christmas pudding and brandy butter
Wine: Chateau de la Peyrade Muscat de Frontignan

After lunch indulgence: Mince pies with a crumble topping
Wine:  Toffoli Marzemino Passito
