I decided to set up Make it in Wales so that I could bring together under one roof, some of the best designer – maker – teachers that I know. Together we have designed high-end textile, sewing and craft courses.
We are offering many different workshops as one, two or three day courses as well as full weeks residentials so there’s plenty of choice. We cover activities such as creative sewing and embroidery, silver rig making, upholstery, indigo dyeing and Shibori, pottery, weaving and quilting.
I know that many of you find it hard to make time to do the things that you love. Maybe you would like to re-visit a craft or perhaps you want to develop your current skills further?
What I do know is that many of the ladies (yes it’s mostly ladies) who join us love the fact that they have given themselves the time to become fully absorbed in the activity for the day or week. They also enjoy meeting new, like-minded people and there is always lots of gossip and sharing of ideas.
Suzi is the founder of Make it in Wales. After graduating, she worked as a knitwear designer in the Midlands for ten years, following which, she relocated to West Wales and set up a digital embroidery business supplying embroidery to the wedding dress market. She has since transferred her digital embroidery skills to be able to teach various techniques on a domestic sewing machine and is affectionately known by her students as Suzi Stitch. Having taught in higher education for over ten years, Suzi is passionate about offering specialised courses and has teamed up with expert designer-makers to do so. Make it in Wales is a culmination of many years of working and teaching in the fashion and textile sector in the UK.
