After meeting at school when they were 14, Louise & Julie went their separate ways to embark on their own adventures before reuniting years later with their wealth of knowledge and experience to create Mon Amie.
Louise has been a floral designer for over 20 years; after various job roles (including a mobile flower round from the back of her car!), Louise decided she would love to own her own shop and created “Queens” in Kibworth which she ran for four years with her husband Jerry. Along came a son, Alfie and life took over – Louise wanted to enjoy those precious early years with her family.
Julie’s career in flowers has been more recent. After a degree in French and Marketing and many years in advertising followed by three little breaks for maternity leave and a couple of years spent in the brand team at Joules Clothing, Julie knew she needed a change of direction and a job that worked better around her three growing daughters and the summers that she spends with her family in France.
… So the pair were holidaying with friends and family when they got talking on the beach one day and decided they could collaborate their knowledge, skills and passion for beautiful products and share them with like-minded friends. And in 2014 Mon Amie was born.
Louise and Julie now work together in Leicestershire in a lovely old, cobbled-together workshop that was once a stable – it’s cold all year round in there which is perfect for flowers and explains why the pair are always dressed in thermals and woolly hats! They now spend their days happily coming up with gorgeous floral and herby creations for the home and for occasions.
Always coming up with new ideas of things to make your home look beautiful and life just that bit more stylish. Back in 2014 when we started working together, we developed our Cross Back Apron design as a uniform for our floristry business, and because we never took them off – even when our work was done – people kept asking us where they were from.
So we made a few more and then a few more…
Working in these aprons every day, we know how practical and versatile they are – great for gardening, cooking, flower arranging and even walking the dog!
Produced in a range of colours and fabrics, with no strap around the neck and nothing tied around the waist, our cross back aprons are quite simply the most comfortable thing you can wear.
We’ve tweaked our pattern to ensure the most brilliant one-size fits all design – with plenty of fabric around to suit all shapes and sizes and sensibly proportioned arm holes for ease of getting it on and off!
And with two useful patch pockets, they’re great for stashing away everything from scissors and string to packets of seeds and dog treats…
