About Alison Howell

Courageous and tenacious entrepreneur, thinker and business director.
Alison has founded Foot Trails which she as taken from start up to profitable growing business.

Alison is guided by three principles in life and business, wisdom – simplicity – and heart

Wisdom inspired by her grandfather who travelled the world working in security on Concorde’s test flights, travelling twice the speed of sound. Simplicity to cut through the complexities we often create. And heart to remember the importance of our human spirit in all our endeavours.

Professionally Alison is a member of the Institute of Directors and invited to speak at round tables on a national and regional level as well as speak on her entrepreneurial journey.

Alison has been a finalist in Country Living’s Women in Rural Business Awards and Bath & Bristol Women in Business awards. In 2014 Alison had the privilege of being awarded one of only 20 UK scholarships by the Department of International Trade to study international business at the Kellogg School of Management, Chicago, USA.

Alison grew up in a self sufficient, farming background. She left the farm at 18 to study business.
She left her first large corporate role at IBM (after being referred to as a Maverick) to walk 680 miles across France – an experience that was to change her life forever and inspire Foot Trails, a business she launched in 2002.

Alison has led Foot Trails to grow from a home based start, into a profitable growing international business with a team in Bath.

Alison is experienced in business start up, growth, strategic thinking, goal setting, marketing, business development and responsible business.

Chosen as a 42 under 42 by Business Insider for her entrepreneurial efforts, cited as “one to watch” Alison has been invited to Downing Street twice, and the Select Committee for Corporate Responsibility at the Houses of Parliament to share good practice.
