I love the tradition and history of handweaving, and its deceptively simple rhythm: how the same repetitive movements have been made by weavers through the centuries to create stunningly beautiful cloth. I am enchanted by the geometry, the designing of patterns, the interlocking threads, the functional beauty of the loom itself.

I am enthused by colour; it is a major aspect of my work, and the first thing I consider in every new design. Calm neutrals; vibrant splashes of pink, orange or bright green; muted autumnal shades: all inspire me to find the design that will bring them to life.

Many of my designs are inspired by the natural world - the pattern of leaves in the garden, waves on the shore or patterns in a rockface. Because of this I prefer to work in natural fibres such as silk, linen. mohair, wool and cotton.

Every item I design and weave is special to me. Whether it's a one-off or part of a range each piece is unique and original, created with attention to detail and respect for the materials and equipment used.

I am proud to be a craftswoman, working by hand by time-honoured traditional methods to produce beautiful textiles.
