Gracious Mountain

Handmade Accessories and Gifts for Weddings and Special Occasions

Gracious Mountain is all about handcrafting accessories especially for you for that special occasion, a gift that will be there as a keepsake or to be handed down through the ages.  A special treasure to be given as a thank you or to make an accessory that displays your very character, wishes and dreams for the future.

My name is Loraine Makowski-Heaton and I am a designer and crafter specialising in crafting accessories for special events such as Weddings, Anniversaries, Christenings and Coming of Age.  I just love to make accessories and gifts for special occasions to make a day a treasured memory and to give you an everlasting keepsake.

I have been sewing since the age of seven and have always enjoyed all types of crafts.  I am always updating my skills and am thrilled when I learn a new skill and adapt old ones.  Over the years I have made many specialist items for myself and for friends and relations including wedding and ball gowns and all the accessories.

I have a love of history and traditions and get a thrill in researching for my designs whether historical or more contemporary.  The use of sustainable, recycled and vintage materials is a high priority although, unfortunately, not always possible as quality has to be our first thought when making a keepsake.

My studio is based on a small farm where I live with my family and work from home.  As well as my love of crafts, sewing and all things historical, I have a love of all animals but have here goats, a sheep, chickens, dogs and cats.  If I am not crafting then I am often found on the farm with the animals or in the kitchen rustling up something special with ingredients from our vegetable garden.

A touch of the old fashion you may think, yes, I have to agree, but hopefully a little quirky too!
