Rutland Water Cruises Ltd/Rutland Belle
Rutland Water North Shore
Bull Brigg Lane
All aboard the Rutland Belle for a cruise on Rutland Water, Britain’s largest manmade reservoir. This unique site is a wildlife haven and we will have experts on hand to give advice on taking photographs, painting and sketching the stunning landscapes and the creatures who call it home. Tim Mackrill is “Mr Osprey” and he will be giving a talk on the successful nesting sites and where best to spot them.
Kate Shaw is the external competitions secretary of Leicester Forest Photographic Society and she will be coming along to give us hints and tips on how best to photograph wildlife and moving landscapes. And for budding artists we are joined by Andrew Geeson, who has painted the landscapes and Ospreys at Rutland over his period there as artist-in-residence, who will demonstrate his signature loose watercolour style and give tips about drawing and sketching birds.
The Rutland Belle will be departing from Whitwell Northshore at 11am prompt so please make sure you arrive for 10.30am to register. An email will go out to everyone attending the week before to confirm where registration will take place (as this will be dependant on numbers). Fresh cream scones and drinks will be served on the Rutland Belle and are included in the price.
Please don’t worry if you don’t want to learn to draw or take photos, you can just come along for the ride and the usual informal, friendly networking. Though why not pick up a pencil – you may discover your inner-Picasso!
