Rothley Wine Ltd, Kingfishers’ Pool Vineyard, 43 Westfield Lane, Rothley, Leicestershire LE7 7LH
Thursday 3rd May 10.30 – 12.30 is the date of our visit to Kingfisher Pool Vineyard in the Charnwood village of Rothley. The family home of award-winning vintner Liz Robson, Rothley Wine is only open by appointment and we have arranged for an exclusive tour and wine-tasting. Not only is the 2 acre vineyard home to some very interestingly named grape varieties, each with its own personality, but the site is also of historic interest, having Roman remains on the plot. There is much to see, and to taste and buy here and Liz makes a very lively and enthusiastic host as she shares the story of the business she created in her \\\”retirement\\\”.
We will split into 2 groups, one wine-tasting while the other tours the vineyard, taking in the Kingfisher\\\’s Pool after which it is named and meeting Mabel, the adorable English Pointer. You are welcome to bring your own dog as long as they are well behaved. The brook which runs at the end of the garden was a magnet for my spaniel when we first met Liz on the recce for this event so you have been warned! (Don\\\’t worry, I won\\\’t be bringing him this time!)
There will also be an additional cost option (weather-permitting) to stay on and enjoy a picnic in the grounds – details to be confirmed nearer to the date.
As the venue and winery is small, we have restricted numbers to 16 so early booking is essential. It is also very important that you let us know if you are unable to keep your place as we are certain to have a waiting list. If you do try to book online and get the message that it is fully booked, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a waiting list place.
