May 2018 will see the introduction of new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) that will affect anyone who gathers and holds personal data.
At our March networking meeting we welcome as our guest speaker commercial solicitor Stuart McIntosh, a director of of Four Oaks Legal Services. He has a special interest in digital issues and has hands-on experience of the legal and business issues that arise in different business models, such as social and business networking, internet TV, e-commerce and providers of educational services. Some of you will know Four Oaks as it is where our member Joanna Parkin also works.
Stuart will look at what we can expect when the new regulations come in to force.
We’ll be meeting in the large foyer at the hotel. You are welcome to arrive from 6.45pm to sign in and pay your meeting fee. You will be able to get a hot drink and network informally until we move through to the meeting room. You will be able to bring flyers and business cards to pop on a table in the meeting room and everyone will get the chance to introduce themselves to the room. The WiRE member giving a 10-minute presentation to give more detail about what she does will be Heather Gallagher, Principal of StageScreen.
Any women who work (for themselves, for others, or for charities) are welcome to attend. There are no restrictions on the numbers and types of businesses who can attend and it doesn’t matter where you are based.
Admission will be £8 for non-members and £5 for WiRE members. Pay on the door but PLEASE help us prepare for the night by booking a place on this page.
Parking is free in the hotel car park but you will need to collect a code from reception on your way out to raise the car park exit barrier.
If you need to come straight from work you may be interested to know that light bites including paninis, jacket potatoes and pizza, are available to buy from the hotel all day and into the evening. So it’s the ideal spot to grab something to eat, or perhaps have a one-to-one meeting with a business contact ahead of the meeting.
